Today we’re talking to Nick Bohannan, Digital Banker at Climate First Bank. Nick manages everything digital banking related, from onboarding new customers, to opening accounts, and reporting on our successes.
We bank customers’ in 49 states so our Digital Branch is one of the biggest and most important branches of the Bank. Customers’ join us because of our mission to use finance as a force for good and for our great rates, but they stay with us because of the amazing customer service we offer – and Nick is a great example of someone who goes above and beyond at the Bank!
Hi Nick! Tell our readers a little bit about yourself – when did you join the Bank and what made you join?
Hey! Thanks for having me along to share my story. I joined Climate First Bank in September 2022. I wanted my career to mean something and to positively impact people’s daily lives. Picking an employer who’s values aligned with mine was important, and Climate First Bank makes a great fit – they dedicate their resources to making a positive impact for our future. It seemed like a great fit, and I haven’t been disappointed!

Can you describe your role as a digital banker at Climate First Bank?
No two days are the same at Climate First Bank! Broadly speaking, my role as a Digital Banker is to ensure our customers receive the best customer service and guidance to ensure that they are enrolled in the best product that fits their needs. I also provide support to our existing customers with any banking needs they may encounter.
What’s your favorite thing about going to work every day?
Knowing that my time spent at work is making a difference in our community and customers that positively impacts our goals to achieve our mission. I also enjoy the flexibility of being able to work remotely from home, it’s given me the chance to positively make an impact in the environment by reducing carbon emissions from commuting.
What strategies do you use to enhance the customer experience in digital banking while promoting sustainable practices?
There’s a couple of big ways we do this. Firstly, we eliminate the need for paper documents by having electronic documents and e-statement. We also save emissions from transport by eliminating the need to drive to a branch and open accounts, instead our customers can open accounts with virtual meetings, and manage their accounts through our online and mobile banking.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to go to the beach, visit our amazing theme parks, and spin some tunes as a DJ. I’m also a ‘cat parent’ to three wonderful, adopted cats – Loki, Bucky, and Naya. They keep me busy because they’re always getting into mischief!
Where have you been in the world and where would you like to go?
My favorite trip in the world was spending a week on a yacht in Croatia. In the future, I’d like to visit every Disney & Universal theme park.
